Michigan business coachHow do you respond to clutter?  Are you tolerant of it, or vigilant in reducing collections of stuff?  The older I get, the more of a minimalist I am.  I find that I dread gift giving holidays like Christmas and birthdays.   The incoming avalanche of “stuff” makes me a little crazy.  The perfect gift for me is a massage certificate, dinner, or flowers.  I know it’s the thought that counts, but the gift of stress in the form of knick knacks tends to worsen my frown lines.

There are still bins of Christmas presents in my daughters’ rooms that they haven’t looked at since they unwrapped.  There are stacks of clothes in their rooms that don’t fit or are out of season.  All of these things need my attention, and this is the weekend that I have dedicated to banishing the crap that clutters my house and increases my stress.   My closet is crying out for a serious purge as well.

Many people believe that casting out clutter creates an energetic shift that creates space and allows room for more abundance.   Some entreprenuers report getting more clients after cleaning out files in their office and organizing their desk and office.  Is it possible that the junk in my house is blocking the flow of increased income and opportunities?   I believe it’s possible, especially since I work out of my house.

My family tends to hide when I go into a dejunking overdrive.  They are perfectly happy living amongst things that are out of place, like pack rats.  I tend to overlook things until I can’t, and then I become a cross between the Tasmanian Devil and Cruella DeVille as I go from room to room armed with garbage bags and large plastic bins.
