Business coach

Let me make it Real Simple for you

As a business coach, there are three places I notice that my private clients tend to ignore marketing in three areas. The irony is that these are three of the very best places to attract clients and build a list.  There are also three of my favorite ways to market!

1. Your blog: A regularly updated blog will serve you in so many ways.  First of all, it’s a great search engine optimization technique because the search engines like websites which have fresh, original content.  Be sure to post orginial content to your blog and don’t duplicate it in other areas like article marketing.

Updating your blog also gives your website visitors a reason to check back to see what’s new.  If you offer subscription via RSS, your readers will automatically be reminded of you every time you update your blog.  You also can automate the updating of your social networks via your blog.

New blog posts also is a great way to strengthen the keywords you are targeting as part of your SEO marketing plan.  Remember to encourage readers to interact with you by leaving a comment.

2. Other blogs: Leaving comments on other people’s blogs is a great example of good karma.  By leaving comments you are helping them, but that goodwill comes back to you in the form of backlinks if the blog allows follow links.   To give you an example, I once noticed a comment on a marketing blog and I clicked that person’s link and was really impressed with their website.  So I signed up for their mailing list and soon thereafter bought a $2,000 marketing program from that person.  If you leave just three comments a day on other blogs within your niche, that adds up to be almost 1,100 links to your website per year.

3. Your website: Having a website that attracts clients and builds your list is the whole point of having a website.  It’s crucial to have a website that is optimized from a search engine optimization standpoint, but also keeps visitors once they arrive on the site.  We only have less than three seconds for visitors to decide to stay and look around or “bounce” to another site.  There are many elements to have in place, but the most important are compelling copywriting on the home page and a tempting opt-in gift that your target market would want to access enough to give up their email address.

Which of these marketing opportunities have you been neglecting?  All three of these can be lucrative and highly effective business building marketing methods.  Please leave me a comment and share your thoughts, I’d love to hear from you!
